Mike Pfeifer, owner of Custom Woodwork, was born and raised in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.  His interest in woodworking began early in high school shop.  Over the years, he continued expanding his skills and expertise, building projects primarily for family and friends in his father’s woodshop.

For Mike, woodworking is about creativity, problem solving, and artistry – combining ideas, construction techniques, and the beauty of wood.  He founded Custom Woodwork in 1990 and focused the business on creating beautiful things that people can’t find anywhere else.

Mike’s hobbies include fishing, photography, and kayaking.  His initial interest in kayaking led to an expansion in his woodworking portfolio to include kayaks, canoes and rowboats.  His boat building, like other projects, incorporates time-honored construction techniques and craftsmanship resulting in beautiful one-of-a-kind boats that are fun to use.

Mike and his wife, Bec Pfeifer, have two children and live in Champlin, Minnesota.  Mike is a member of the Northwest Suburban chapter of Business Networking Incorporated, Inland Sea Kayakers, and the Minnesota Woodworkers Guild.
